Sunkar Resources plans to introduce MAP/DAP production facilities based on 800 million tonne of phosphate ore at its Chilisai field in NW Kazakhstan (with a grade of 10.5% P2O5). The shallow ore body, availability of cheap sulphur and access to promising fertiliser markets are key elements of the business plan. While completing a feasibility study for chemical processing, Sunkar intends to sell phosphate rock to neighbouring fertiliser plants. Mining at Chilisai commenced in September.
